Dr. Itaski Vashti Arnette
Dr. Arnette is a proud native of Summerville, SC where she graduated and received a full Teaching Fellows scholarship to attend South Carolina State University. At SCSU, she graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. in English Education and then completed her M.Ed in Counselor Education at Georgia Southern University. She continued her studies at Walden University where she earned an Ed.D in Teacher Leadership.
Since 2006, Dr. Arnette has had the opportunity to work with exceptional TEAMs which aided countless students to achieve academic success! With over ten years of experience in Dekalb, she has fostered relationships that have and continue to help our students and teachers believe that their potential is limitless. Throughout her tenure, she has received several accolades including Freedom Middle School Teacher of the Year (2009), Human Spirit Award (2010) and The Extra Mile Award (2011). Nonetheless, the most rewarding achievement is seeing her students SOAR.
Dr. Arnette’s philosophy is, “We are all designed for success!” Therefore, as a servant and transformational leader, she is committed to instilling this mantra, so the vision and mission of The Community Academy for Architecture and Design is materialized. Consequently, TCAAD will offer a community of learning where students are a part of a learner-centered environment, which promotes creativity, critical thinking, and collaborative problem-solving skills. All necessary competencies for our “designers” of today to develop into community conscious leaders of now and tomorrow. Dr. Arnette is elated to be selected as TCAAD’s founding School Leader and is confident of the inevitable success for the designers of The Community Academy for Architecture and Design.
